Munich Disco Tech Vol. 1 [incl. Tonka - Orca & Freeze] [Great Stuff]
This is the first volume of a new series, featuring the sound of Munich, Great Stuff's beautiful hometown in the sunny south of Germany and also native town of Giorgio Moroder's disco sound. Munich Disco Tech presents great tracks from undiscovered talents, upcoming producers or even legendary artists, which are not necessarily from Munich but who reflect the sound of the monthly Great Stuff Night at Munich's hot club “Rote Sonne”.
At Vol. 1 we proudly present the return of a proper legend and innovator: Tonka, who started a new genre with his cut up disco releases on Force Inc already in 1993 and ruled the world of house music with groundbreaking remixes and own tracks for a whole generation. After a 4 years break and a move to Munich he's back better than ever with two stunning tech house tunes, “Orca” already charted at #2 by Carl Cox.

Eq-Mag.co.uk: By far the best label from Germany is back with a blast from the past, Tonka. My favourite track of the forthcoming Munich Disco Tech ep is “Orca” which has a shuffling beat and some great spaced out atmospheric sounds. Every now and again it's chilled out with some floating guitar chords, but the main lead line is what you remember. At its most severe it's excellent Techno and when it's holding back it's a pure delight on the senses. The other tracks on the ep are equally as good and creative, so track it down.
Groove Mag: "Munich Discotech", das klingt so ein bisschen nach Federboa-Einsatz zwischen Moroder und US-Housediva, und mit Tonka als einer der Gastreferenten erscheint dies Vorurteil erst recht plausibel. Zum Glück sieht die Realität aber begeistend anders aus: DJ Tonka erfindet sich mal eben neu als Protagonist eines strikt nach vorne marschierenden Reduktionstechno mit Lagerfeuer-Gitarren und gecuttetem "Orca"-Signal. ...Grandioses Futter für alle Disco Invaders, und solche, die es noch werden wollen.
