Ellroy

Montreal's own Whizz-Kid, Ellroy (Born Volodymyr Zhurakivskyy) began with his intense passion for BBoy culture back in 2001: from breakdancing, graffiti, and of course breakbeats; so the logical progression for this underage breaker was catching the DJ bug, playing all over seedy clubs in his native Ukraine.

Playing mostly funk, tribal and breakbeat, he started to produce his own tunes in these genres that were played at the various dance competitions. As Ellroy was discovering different genres in electronic dance music, his style was slowly evolving.

Starting from 2006 Ellroy was a resident in many various clubs in his home town Ternopil, and all across the country such as BlackBerry, Cleopatra, Las Vegas, Marakana, Ibiza, Harley and others.

In 2008 his efforts started to pay off when he signed his first production to Groove Baby Records. Soon after, he launched his own label “Stereo Tension. In 2009, fate brought him to Canada, and he hasn’t looked back since, hooking up with Thomas Courribet and Jeff Gold, hosts of the “Deep Confessions”events at famed Montreal hot-spot, Le Salon Daome. Being by influence of Montreal's techno and house scene he combined best of both continents. With more deep and techy sound, Ellroy implied more funky and tribal elements from his early breakdance days.

Over the years Ellroy released his tracks on labels such as 303 Lovers, Elrow, Expectancy, Alchemy, Azuli ( Defected ), District Raw, Frequenza, Pild, and many others and in 2013 he releases a monster EP 'Human Creation' on Apollo Records. After selected as Beatport's 'Track Of The Day' and receiving a massive support from the biggest names in the industry, Beatport News called his track - ‘Ellroy's "Zeche" is a masterclass for the sound of tech house in 2013’

Being supported by Marco Carola, Reboot, Paco Osuna, Butch, Nicole Moudaber, Richie Hawtin, ONNO, Christian Smith, Pig & Dan, Ron Costa and Joris Voorn, just to name a few, Ellroy’s sound is quickly turning heads and it’s just a mere teaser of what’s to come for this talented & dedicated Phoneme.
